Drug Screening Can Fit Into a Treatment Plan
Visit our office for a drug screening appointment or make an appointment for someone that you love. In our office, we treat patients who are struggling with addiction. We understand how difficult it can be for everyone who is involved in that situation. Typically, people visit us when they reach the point where they want to change their life for the better.
We are happy to provide that important assistance and to make it easier for patients along with their journey. One important step in that process could be a drug screening on a regular basis since it can help hold recovering addicts accountable for making healthier choices.
First, determine if someone is using drugs
Sometimes, the first call we get is from parents who want to find out if their child is indeed using drugs. We can complete the test to find out and also let parents know what drugs are in use.
Second, it is time to detox
Some patients visit us of their own accord because they are ready to detox. In other cases, we are helping adolescents to detox after their parents have brought them in for a drug screening and we determine they are indeed using drugs.
In both cases, we have proven treatment options that make it easier to detox, rather than going cold turkey. Someone who tries to detox on their own is likely to suffer from a variety of very difficult symptoms including feeling nauseous, getting the shakes, headaches and more. These symptoms are often so severe that it makes it impossible for someone to continue with their normal daily activities like going to work or school.
Fewer symptoms, same detox effect
Fortunately, we can provide patients with the medication needed to take during this phase. By simply taking medication, it is possible to decrease the detox symptoms. This makes it far more likely that someone will be interested in detoxing and that they will make it through this difficult treatment.
As an added benefit, when detoxing on medication it is usually possible to continue normal daily activities, even if they need to be slightly or somewhat restricted. In other words, no one will be able to tell that detox is taking place.
Third, long-term maintenance is necessary for a full recovery
The recovery process is long-term. It is not as simple as detoxing and no longer using. It is about not relapsing as well. This is not an easy task. We understand that and are here to provide support. Simultaneously, we find that patients who are set up for regular drug screening appointments tend to use that as an accountability tool.
It can be a way of encouraging one's self to make the right healthy choice when tempted to use drugs again. For parents, these appointments are also important because it allows them to know immediately if their child has relapsed and is in need of further intervention. In other words, these appointments make it possible to get valuable information while there is still time and opportunity to help.
